Diet for a New America

Day #5!! Feeling GREAT! In fact, I’m even considering extending the cleanse for a few more days. I’ve been so bust the last 2 days that I almost forgot I was even fasting, which may be part of the reason why I want to extend – so I can actually have some time to RELAX.
So yesterday, Day #4, I got up and went into town after the morning colema and wound up working online for 3 hours trying to catch up in journal entries on the website. When I got back to the Spa, I sat down to a veggie broth with Tania, a girl from Australia also fasting (started the day after me). We decided to watch one of the health videos available to guests so we chose “Diet for a New America”, hosted by John Robbins. What a dramatic, informative, mind-opening video! For anyone out there who is still eating meat, this is a MUST-SEE!
After the video it was time for the afternoon colema so I did that and then Ines and I went for a walk across the street to the Tamarind Spa to see how the other half was living. The place is a paradise – so quiet and peaceful and beautiful – much different than our busy, noisy spa with so much traffic noise, fishing boat motors, and smoke from the trash being burned next door. I showed Ines the spa area they have there (I had been there scoping it out last week) and then we walked back over the tracks. I ended up going back to the Tamarind by myself at 6:30pm for a go in their herbal steam and it was out of this world! Their steam room is literally built between 2 huge rocks and the whole setup is so beautiful with the plants and lighting and everything. It was definitely a treat but well worth it.
Today, Day #5, is when I started to get this crazy idea that I want to extend my fast. I really truly believe that this cleanse cleans out so much built-up waste and so many toxins from your intestines. It is absolutely the best thing you can do for your body. Anyway I’ve been so crazed with getting the website up that I haven’t even been able to enjoy my fast. By that I mean just taking more time to talk with the other fasters and reading more of the literature here. So I really would like to have some more time on the fast to better focus on it and also because I’m feeling really good physically. AND I’m still getting rid of SO MUCH crap in my colemas that I don’t want to end too soon for fear of missing out on the good stuff. (Even tonight since I’ve gotten back from town I have gone to the toilet 4 TIMES – and I have not eaten in 5 DAYS. Surely this is mucoid plaque.) Tomorrow I will decide.
This afternoon though I had an Ampuku massage, which is some Japanese thing where they massage the hell out of your intestines. It definitely hurts but it felt really good to have someone massage it out for me. I could feel stuff moving around my intestines for sure and I definitely think that the massage is the reason why I’ve had so much stuff come out tonight. She also did a full body massage with it so it was really nice – the perfect combo for us fasters.
Here is some specific info on fasting (also from the Tao book):
“Fasting triggers a truly wondrous cleaning process that reaches right down to each and every cell in the body. Within 24 hours of curtailing food intake, enzymes stop entering the stomach and travel instead into the intestines and into the bloodstream, where they circulate and gobble up all sorts of waste matter, including dead and damaged cells, unwelcome microbes, metabolic wastes, and pollutants. All organs and glands get a much-needed and well-deserved rest, during which the tissues are purified and rejuvenated and their functions are balanced and regulated. The entire alimentary canal is swept clean, and what comes out the lower end should astonish and disgust first-time fasters sufficiently to make fasting and colon cleansing a life-long habit.”
