The Full Moon Party Experience

Recovering from the Full Moon Party last night…

I need coffee in the veins. It was a late night. What a blast though! I headed over there last evening with some other people from the Spa. Full Moon Party is a huge event here – they can have anywhere from 5,000 – 15,000 backpackers show up for the monthly all-night beach party. They have speed boats running all night between the islands from Ko Samui to Ko Pha-Ngan.

So we headed up to the pier to catch a speedboat for the 20-minute ride. And then we landed full-on into the party. It was quite a scene! The beach itself is a cove about a mile long with all different bars and clubs playing techno dance music. They were people dancing everywhere. And of course the moon was bright and there were only a few clouds so it turned out to be a beautiful night. (It had rained earlier in the day and there were rumours that the boats weren’t even running because of bad weather.) And, well that’s about all I can disclose of the the evening. I wound up catching a speedboat back at 5am and was back at my bungalow just in time to see the sunrise.

Confessions of a reflexologist: “I am just SO tired of looking at people’s feet!”

I’ve done the fasting and I’ve done the Full Moon Party. My mission in Samui is complete. Tomorrow it’s off to Krabi. I’m looking forward to it since Krabi is supposed to be really beautiful with limestone cliffs jetting out of the sea and clear-green water. It’s a 1.5-hour boat ride back to the mainland from Samui and then a 3-hour bus ride to Krabi. The boat leaves at 7:30am and 1:30pm so IF I’m ambitious I’ll get up at 5am and cycle the 18 km over to Na Thon. Then it’s a question of whether they’ll allow me to take a bicycle on the bus…some’golden handshakes’ will be in order I’m sure. Hoping for an easy time of it!
