Relaxing into Koh Lanta
December 7th, 2001 at 12:00am
Second day on Ko Lanta. Didn’t get into too much trouble today because I’m trying to shake this cold that’s been making my nose run pretty much non-stop for the past 24 hours. Not a bad place to have a cold though, I must admit.
I had intended on going up the road to investigate some cool caves they have on the island, but instead I layed around on the beach all day and collected shells. I’ve also moved to the bungalow next door because the sanctuary had people coming to my room today with a prior reservation. I am hoping to kick this cold soon so I can go snorkling…
I’ve ventured off the beach tonight in search of a different place for dinner. Even though the food at the Sanctuary is excellent, I like to spread my American dollar around a bit when I can. So I crossed the road and looked for a restaurant where there were more Thai customers than farang – always a good sign that the food will be good. I’ve ordered a Thai vegetable noodle soup and garlic naan – gotta love the Thai/Indian combo they have going on down here.
At some point I GUESS I need to get back to Krabi and check on my bike. I paid the guy for 5 days in advance so he’s probably expecting me to show up sometime soon. Maybe another 2 days here and then back to the mainland?
Don’t want to jinx anything, but I have been living rat and mouse-free ever since I left the Cesspool, oh I mean the Spa, on Ko Samui. I did have a rather large and beefy gecko in my bungalow last night (about 1 foot long), but I hardly mind them at all because #1 they’re so cute and #2 they eat the mosquitoes!
