The Art of Coral Collecting 201
(Prerequisite: Mindful Shell Collecting 101)
There are many items to consider when designing your own coral garden. Thought should be given to the size, shape, type, and color of the coral. It’s best to simply choose the corals that appeal to you though, without worrying too much about function. Then, when you have a good pile of pieces back at your ‘garden’ area (in my case, a grassy patch in front of my bungalow), you can start the creative process of laying them out.
It’s also good to throw some shells and interesting rocks into the mix to break up the design a bit. Use the biggest pieces for ‘anchors’ at the corners and border of your garden. Work on this project just a little bit every day, so that you gain new perspective each time you come back to the ‘canvas’. Don’t forget to sit back and enjoy the area too – spend time by your garden and appreciate the art you have created.
Note: Upon succesful completeion of this course, student has the option of advancing to:
1. Sand as a Medium
2. Advanced Shell Work: Making Jewelery and Wind Chimes
3. How NOT to lose your sunglasses and sandals at the beach
4. Living on Island Time – Throw away the watch and be happy
5. Improving Your Sarong Usage
‘If you want to sing out, sing out
If you want to be free, be free
Cause there’s a million things to be,
You know that there are…
If you want to live high, live high
And if you want to live low, live low
There’s a million ways to go,
You know that there are
You can do what you want
The opportunities are there…
If you find a new way, you can do it today
It’s easy’
