Emerald Cave on Koh Mok
January 2nd, 2002 at 12:00am
So it is the second day of the year 2002. Or, as it is in Thailand, the year 2545. That’s 2545 years since Buddha was born in case you didn’t know. Anyway it was another good day on Ko Lanta.
Today was Brent’s last day here. He took the 1pm boat back to Krabi and then he was to catch the overnight bus back to Bangkok. Tomorrow he’ll be on a plane to Sri Lanka. Lucky him! It was fun having him around and I think he really enjoyed his time on Lanta. I will miss having his full collection of the 300 CD’s that he bought in Vietnam. That was really nice, especially because his CD player broke on his first day here and so he lent me his speakers and CD’s to enjoy during the entire time he was here!
I spent all of today reading the second Harry Potter book in my hammock. I was in the bookstore in town the other day and I saw they had the first 3 for sale. So I decided it was time to see what the Harry Potter thing was all about. When I bought the first one they told me that they would buy it back for half-price so yesterday I went back and traded in the first one for the second. Tomorrow I’ll be ready for the third. So far I’ve really enjoyed them.
It’ll be good to go back to the store too just to see their cat. They have a really fat all-grey cat that is the most mellow cat in the entire world. He is always fast asleep when I go in, sometimes right on the floor in the middle of the store. Totally not bothered by the customers walking by and stepping over him. The first time that Brent saw him he thought it was a stuffed animal with a motor in the tail that made it move. But it’s a real cat! I have petted him, poked him, lifted his legs, and opened his eyes and he sleeps through it all – not even lifting his head.
Still trying to decide how much longer to stay on Lanta and what to do next. More on that later…
