On the 5th day she rests
December 15th, 2002 at 12:00am
So I wimped out and took a zero day and stayed in Karamea for an extra night. What can I say? Couldn’t resist the warmth and comfort of a dry bed and pile of gossip magazines at the hostel. I did feel really guilty though when the sun came out late this morning and I realized it was going to be a dry and sunny day. Hard to not feel guilty when it is a perfect day for hiking and you’re inside. But I think I needed a good rest. I did walk over to the beach in the afternoon to get another look at the Tasman Sea. Other than that I didn’t do much besides sort out my gear a bit and relax. Tomorrow I am definitely outta here, rain or shine, to start the Wangapeka Track. At least I know I’ve got another good night’s sleep ahead before hitting the trail again.
