Head for the hills!

2 hitches today from Hanmer Springs – first a Nelson woman and then 3 Israeli guys. Very nice rides. Arrived in Kaikoura, on the east coast of the South Island, just after lunchtime. What a wonderful afternoon I had sitting on the beach in the SUN! Yes, it’s warm and sunny here, a proper summer day. Still, it’s a very touristy town and I was unsure whether I’d really enjoy another day here, but in the end I booked a kayaking trip for tomorrow morning to have a chance to see some seals and dolphins. After that I will stay the night and then head more north. Even though I am tired of tramping, I find myself bored when faced with a full day and no hiking. So it may be back to the woods sooner that I thought.
