Cleansing AGAIN at the Spa Samui

October 24th, 2003 at 12:00am

Day 1 of the Cleanse. Oh yes, it’s true, I am here again at the Spa Resort on Ko Samui to do another fast/colon cleanse and you lucky readers get the privilege of hearing every gory detail!!!

This will be my third time here. The first was a 14-day fast which I started on 14 November, 2001 . The second was with my father for a 7-day fast which we started on 27 May, 2002. And this
time, well I will take it day by day. I refer back to these dates, and to the first fast especially, because I went into a LOT of detail about why it is important to fast and about the benefits that you are sure to experience. I will do more ranting this time as well, because
I so truly believe that this is the single-most important thing that you can do for your body to rid yourself of disease and become well and happy in body, mind, and spirit. You only have to do it for yourself to understand.

Anyway it is only Day 1 and so nothing major has happened cleanse-wise. It takes about 36-48 hours of fasting for your body to go into
the ‘cleanse’ mode and to start ridding itself of toxins and waste, so the first day or day is just prep-time.

Meanwhile, it has been interesting to be back at the Spa and see what is new or the same and who’s coming to fast. My first night here I arrived late and stayed at the Spa in one of their 250 Baht rooms. You must read my 2001 experience with Operation Kill the Rat to understand my ‘history’ with these rooms.

Well, 2 years later and the Spa did not fail to deliver. I woke up to evidence of rat activity, rat turds, and pieces of insulation all over the floor from him trying to build a nest through the night. I cannot and will not deal with another rat in my room, especially while
fasting!

So the next day I moved next door to Sukasame Bungalows. For nearly
the same price I had a cleaner, brighter room that did not have 15
years of dust accumulation on every crevice, and I was happy.

But as with every room change, you must spend one full night before
you decide to stay. I admittedly was unimpressed by the loud road
traffic and club music pumping from the new Buddy Bar next door.

So today, I searched again and found a bungalow right on the beach for
the same price, 300 Baht/night. It is bigger again, cleaner again,
and as I write from my room I can hear the sound of the waves from the
ocean just a few meters from my door. It is only a 2-minute walk to
the Spa. Still, I will have to give it a test-night before any
conclusions are made, but at the moment I am happy again.

What I find interesting from the fasting board (a wipe-board which
lists everyone who is fasting, how many fasts they’ve done at the Spa,
what day they’re on, and where they are staying), is that everyone who
is staying at the Spa is a first-time Spa-er, and everyone who is
staying elsewhere is a second or third generation Spa-er. There are
16 people fasting at the present time, and that is very low season for
the Spa.

Well, I don’t want to go too crazy on my first day, so I’m gonna kick
back now and hopefully get some good sleep. I’ll be sure to include
some fasting info tomorrow in an effort to get you all motivated to do
this for yourselves!!
