The latest from da beach

December 22nd, 2003 at 12:00am

Seems appropriate to pick up the journal again today since I’ve just come off another fast, and the last time I logged in I was in the middle of the last fast. I am definitely guilty of slack updates again over the last month or so….I can only say that when you are fasting in general, the absolute last thing on your mind is going to an internet cafe, and even further down than that is updating a website. So in November when I finished the 14-day fast, I had little inclination to catch up on everything that happened, and anyway I have finally forced myself to get back on the ball. So the update goes like this: I am STILL in Thailand, STILL at the Spa, and STILL working on this whole getting healthy thing.

I have kept myself very busy these last few weeks. I started a 7-day liver cleansing diet, and then went into a 7-day fast. From there I started a 3-day juice fast and here I am today back to eating again. I have been watching all of the Dr. Bernard Jensen health lectures on video, 28 hours in total, and of course been busy socializing with other fasters at the Spa.

People may wonder how much there really is to do at the beach, and my answer is that it’s really up to you. A typical day for me begins at 7am with an early morning walk on the beach where I also collect all the rubbish that washed up on the shore from the night before. Then I usually have a swim, do some laundry, straighten up my bungalow, and then have some breakfast. After that I go back to my hammock and spend the rest of the morning reading. Of course I may also have a massage or pedicure or go into town for errands depending on the day! At lunch I usually chat with other fasters/travellers/whatever, then I go for one hour in the sun after 2 pm (good for Vitamin D synthesis). More reading in the early afternoon, then I sometimes do the Chi Gung on the beach at 5:30 or just enjoy the sunset or meet up with other folks for dinner. Still I never manage to get everything done that I planned in any given day, so as you see, I am very rarely bored! In the evening I either go back to my bungalow or go for an herbal steam or get on the internet (like now!). And there is just one of the many days to be had in paradise…
