Wow…it’s true – I’m on the other side of the world and in the Northern Hemisphere for a completely different change of scenery back at home visiting my parents and family!! It’s always good to get out of Thailand and Asia to fully appreciate life there…and this was a well-needed break! After a while the haggling and struggling over every purchase gets so exhausting and you just get so tired of being treated like a tourist in a place that you live….but at the same time who can really complain when they live right on the beach, eat fresh pineapples and coconuts for pennies every day, enjoy the sun and sea and fresh air, and enjoy living life to it’s fullest! Yes, I know…I’ve got it pretty good.

Homeward Bound!
Still, it’s great to be back in the USA and I will fully enjoy my 6 weeks break here. I’ve been shopping like crazy these last few days getting all of the end-of-summer bargains in…something we don’t have in Thailand because, well, it’s summer all the time. So nice to have clothes that fit and are not made for 5′ high Thai women with 17″ waists!! I can even get shoes that fit me!!! Life is good. I have also been enjoying simple things, like driving, which if you do it every day for hours stuck in traffic you obviously hate it, but if you never really drive at all then it becomes an enjoyable novelty again. Freedom.
Seeing family has been great as well, and friends and of course my big fat beautiful cat Sumo, who is still going strong after 21 very spoiled years.
So I’m digging into to all the good things that there are on offer here, namely good cheap wine, and yes I did indulge in a sesame bagel today and it was bee-u-tiful! On Thursday I am heading out to Arizona for a crazy fun-filled 3 days in Sedona at a Raw Food Festival….

So I’m sure I will have some interesting stories to share from that! I’m looking forward to seeing some Red Rock and feeling the energy of Sedona for a few days…also hanging out with conscious-minded people will be good fun too!
So stay tuned…I’ll update more as the weeks progress during my time here in ‘America.’

Hi everyone, and thanks for checking out the site. I’ve been home a few weeks now, and after nearly three years on the road, it feels VERY strange to say the least!! Life in America is especially fast-paced, high-tech, money-oriented, and gluttonous compared to the rest of the world. And the sad thing is that people are over the world are trying to copy the American way, not even realizing that they are probably better off the way they are. I feel like a foreigner in my own land.
Meanwhile I am staying very busy with trying to meet up with friends and family, and also going through over 8,000 photos that I’ve taken during this journey. That’s right, I said 8 THOUSAND photos!!! When I see people here, they ask, ‘hey can we see some photos’, and I just sigh because they have NO IDEA what they are in for!! I am trying to get them down to a reasonable number for a little DVD that I can show people. Everyone also seems to say,’you should write a book,’ and I am thinking about that, but I need some time to chill and reflect first. Being back in the USA is giving me a very interesting and well-needed perspective on all of the things I’ve seen and done, and all of the very interesting people I’ve met. If I ever did write a book, I’d want to capture the spirits of all the people I met because there are just so many amazing stories in them.
By the way, my loyal cat Sumo is still alive and kicking at the ripe old age of 15, and he actually seems to remember me after all this time which is probably the best home-coming I could ask for. He says he’s retired from web design for now, so sorry if you were planning to contact him for a job. His days are now spent sleeping and taking naps and resting in between.
Ideas for the the ‘next step’ are plentiful, but as you may know, I never discuss or announce plans before they are made, so you will just have to stay tuned to see what happens next….

Great to catch up with friends!

FINALLY. Finally, after nearly 3 years of being on the road, I am heading home for a much needed visit with family and friends and my big fat cat Sumo!! I cannot believe that it has actually been that long, but it has. I am excited and anxious and very much looking forward to American food and having more than a suitcase of clothes to choose from. My parents will be picking me up at JFK airport on the 12th of June, so if any of my friends from home happen to check out this entry, CALL ME!! I have no idea what kind of culture shock I will face after being away from the American fast lane for so long, but I am definitely worried that I will not be able to keep up with all the changes and goings on. It’s gonna be interesting.
This is definitely not the end of my travels or my adventures so don’t worry folks! I’ve got a few ideas for what I’ll be doing in the future but because I am very superstitious, I never disclose anything before it actually happens, so you will just have to stay tuned. I’m hoping to be at home long enough to see everyone and then figure out the rest. By the way, I could really stand to make some money so if anyone wants to sign me for a book deal please let me know!!!
