Traffic, dirt and bad roads

Ugghh…not a lot of motivation today. Sometimes the shorter days are actually more difficult. I think because mentally you expect it to be easy but it’s still distance to cover no matter what.

Everything was getting on my nerves today. The road was bad, it was hot, too much traffic, too much dirt and exhaust in my lungs, feeling tired, and wondering why the hell I can’t just be on one of the many tourist buses passing by. I couldn’t even count how many men pulled up next to me on their motorbike and just stared at me. If only I had a ticker on my handlebars I could have kept a tally – now that would have been funny. Then I had some chump kid follow me for about 6 or 8 miles and that just pissed me off. By the time I finally got here I was sure that I’d be getting on a train tomorrow and just cruise my way to Nha Trang in style. But when I got to the hotel (which is right on the beach) and had myself a cold shower and some food, I started to think well, it really wasn’t THAT bad. Funny how the mind works. Tomorrow I’ll be kicking myself saying’why didn’t you bail when you had the chance!’

So I had a sighting of the Unfriendly Duo – that’s those 2 guys that I left in the dust yesterday. I didn’t see them at all in town last night but when I arrived at the hotel today the guy showing me the room said’Oh, 2 men just arrived about 10 minutes ago.’ Then I saw their bikes outside their room just 2 doors down from me. Later, I was sitting by the beach and they walked right by me on their way to dinner and did not even look at me, yet alone say hello! Mind you, the three of us are the only tourists within 100 km of this place! (I found out from the hotel guy that they are both from Germany.)

Well nothing left to do but relax and rest up for tomorrow.
