Gorak Shep – The inside of my tent is as cold as a meat locker
But life is good at Gorak Shep. At 16,900 feet, Gorak Shep is the last village on the way to Base Camp and our highest campsite on the trek. The village consists of one building and sits at the base of Kala Pattar, an 18,208-foot mountain that looks like a dirt hill next to the mammoth mountains all around it. We spent two nights at Gorak Shep to allow time to climb Kala Pattar and hike to Base Camp.
