Phakding – It’s All Uphill from Here
The first village we stayed at was Phakding. You actually hike down about 1,000 feet from Lukla to get there. The village itself sits right next to the Dudh River and is accessible by a foot bridge, one of many rickety bridges on the way to Everest. The water itself has a wonderful blue-grey hue that comes from the glacial till in the river.
We set up our tents right next to the river and enjoyed a fabulous evening of great sleep in the clean Himalayan air.
