Tengboche – Hot showars for everyone
If you make it to Tengboche you will have your first view of Mt. Everest. For that reason many tourists will trek to Tengboche and then turn around and trek back to Lukla. Also in Tengboche is the famous Tengboche Monastery and, equally as important, the first “showar” available for trekkers.

Thrice built, twice destroyed - first by earthquake, later by fire, the Tengboche Monastery lies roughly midway between the Lukla airstrip and Everest Base Camp.
Most trekkers hiking through the Khumbu will hire a yak to carry their gear. One yak traditionally carries two 66-pound loads of gear and supplies. A single Everest team may require more than 200 animals for its expedition alone.

For a mere $1, you can buy a bucket of hot water for your own private “showar”.
